In Japan, there is a unique mascot for just about everything. So when Travel Portland came to us to make the city of Portland, Oregon famous to Japanese travelers, we dreamt up a charmingly weird ambassador for the city itself.
Meet Ondarodude. The grinning blue, Bigfoot inspired mascot, that captured the charming weirdness of Portland. We worked with famous Portland indie band Ages and Ages to write an original song about Portland, which we then re-recorded it, singing entirely in Japanese.
The integrated campaign let people add their faces to the music video, watch a stream of bizarre Portland centric content and visit a virtual imaginary travel agency to find out more about Portland.
